WebSep 1, 2006 · I dry fired it a few times when I was younger and there is permenant marks on the breech of the barrel. As far as my 10/22 goes I have never dry fired it without a empty brass casing in it. I know that the 10/22 design can be dry fired without a shell in the chamber, but I love my 10/22 and would rather be safe than sorry.
